Sex, Sexuality, and Gender - oh my! - Online

In order to mantain social isolation while continuing to offer high quality courses, we will be offering this training online via Zoom. You will receive a link to join the zoom webinar at least 1 day before the start of the course.

This 2 hour training is designed for individuals seeking to learn more about transgender identities. Because gender is critical to who we are as people and impacts a person's day to day life, as well as one's mental and physical health, it is important to understand trans identities and seek to reduce barriers trans people face. This training will help professionals in all contexts feel prepared to serve, help, care for, and work alongside transgender individuals. It will also provide guidance for future learning and skill development in order to stay up to date on information regarding trans identities.

This training is for:

- Social workers

- Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors

- Medical providers (doctors, nurses, medical assistants)

- Public health professionals

- Anyone else looking to learn this information

This training is approved for 2 CEUs by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. You must attend the entire training to receive the CE hours.

Objectives for the course include:

- Develop an understanding of the differences between sex, sexuality, and gender, and the language used to discuss each.

- Improve your personal and professional interactions to develop an understanding and skill in using different gender pronouns.

- Learn skills to reduce barriers trans members of the LGBTQ community face.

- Explore ways you can be more inclusive of transgender people.
